Levi's latest collaboration with Kiko Kostadinov nearly runs out of stock online
Levi's has teamed up with designer Kiko Kostadinov for a unique denim capsule collection, blending conceptual high-fashion aesthetics with classic 1990s Levi's silhouettes. The collection, which was teased at Kiko Kostadinov's Paris Fashion Week fall-winter 2024 mainline shows in February, has been well-received, with most of it sold out on Levi's e-commerce site by press time.
The collection includes a variety of pieces such as relaxed-fit denim trousers, jersey cardigans, and striped henleys. The designs draw inspiration from the twisted side seams and darted yokes of Levi's 1999 "Engineered Jeans" and motifs from Kostadinov's Bulgarian roots. This marks Kiko Kostadinov's first foray into denim collaboration.
Kiko Kostadinov has an ongoing footwear collaboration with Asics, which was named the fastest-growing brand in sneaker resale. The denim collection with Levi's is priced between $220 for a henley top and $690 for a sherpa-lined jacket. The collection is available online through both brands' e-commerce platforms, select Levi's retail stores, and Kiko Kostadinov's Tokyo store.
Levi Strauss & Co. is also making strides in transitioning from a wholesale model to a direct-to-consumer (DTC) model. The company announced a two-year initiative named "Project Fuel" to facilitate this transition. As part of this initiative, Levi's has appointed a Burberry veteran to lead its DTC push, as mentioned in "Levi's taps Burberry veteran to lead DTC push" by Daphne Howland on April 15, 2024.
In addition to the Kiko Kostadinov collaboration, Levi's has other collaborations lined up this year. These include capsules with McLaren Racing, anime series Gundam Seed, and continuing partnerships with Beams and Stüssy.
Meanwhile, Levi Strauss & Co. is also moving away from an insourced logistics network, as mentioned in "Levi Strauss moves away from insourced logistics network" by Kelly Stroh on July 2, 2024. The company is yet to announce details about the logistics changes.
Despite these changes, Levi's has reported a ninth straight quarter of "robust comp growth" in its DTC business in its recent Q2 earnings. The company continues to innovate and collaborate, keeping its iconic brand relevant in the ever-evolving fashion landscape.
