Leaves City Work in Pforzheim: Departure of Herbert Marquard

In a bid to revitalise the struggling Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen, the city has appointed Herbert Marquard as its new managing director. Marquard, who currently heads Stadtwerke Pforzheim, will take up his new role on August 1, 2025, following the end of his contract with his current employer.

The decision to bring in Marquard comes after the resignation of Richard Mastenbroek and First Mayor Michael Hanus from their roles at Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen, following legal and financial difficulties. The city has chosen Marquard for his reputation as a turnaround specialist in the energy sector, with the aim of stabilising the utility and setting it back on the path to success.

Marquard's departure from Stadtwerke Pforzheim has left a vacancy for the co-managing director role, but this change does not affect his new position with Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen. Aik Wirsbinna, who was previously a co-managing director at Stadtwerke Pforzheim, will now serve as the sole managing director of the company.

Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen has been facing financial difficulties, and the change in management is an effort to address the crisis and restore performance. The utility has been struggling, and the city hopes that Marquard's expertise will help turn the company around.

Marquard has a proven track record as a successful energy manager, and his appointment is expected to bring stability and growth to Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen. The city is optimistic that Marquard's leadership will help the utility regain its footing and return to profitability.

Stadtwerke Pforzheim has expressed gratitude to Marquard for his dedication and service, and the company wishes him well in his new role. Marquard's contract with Stadtwerke Pforzheim ends before he takes up his new position with Stadtwerke Bietigheim-Bissingen, and he will start his new role after May 31, 2025.
