Law firm Counselect takes over Lawmetrik in business deal of legal consulting.
In a significant move, consulting and solutions firm Counselect has announced the acquisition of Lawmetrik, a specialist in legal value optimisation and managed services. This merger positions the combined entity as a leader in business and value consulting for corporate legal departments in India.
The deal was facilitated by a team of law firm consultants, including Quantascend, IndusLaw, Acumen, YNZ Legal, and Mahika Parikh. Quantascend acted as deal advisors to Counselect, guiding the business and transactional aspects of the acquisition process. IndusLaw provided legal counsel specifically for Counselect, handling legal advisory and compliance matters on their behalf. Acumen advised Lawmetrik on the deal, supporting Lawmetrik’s side in the transaction. YNZ Legal and Mahika Parikh served as legal advisors, presumably assisting Lawmetrik with legal and regulatory counsel related to the acquisition.
Both Counselect and Lawmetrik share a common hypothesis about the business value of organizing legal departments around information management, operations, technology, and an innovative talent strategy. This shared vision will drive the growth of the combined entity, with plans to expand its work with global clients and grow its GCC offering.
Ritvik Lukose, co-founder of Counselect, will take the role of CEO. Basil Almeida, founder of Lawmetrik, will join Counselect as co-founder and President. The leadership team of the combined entity will include Balanand Menon, Rishabh Chopra, Vaishali Gopal, Emerald Amara, and Siddharth Narsipur from Lawmetrik.
This merger is expected to make Counselect and Lawmetrik the first choice for clients that want to modernize and scale their legal and compliance functions. The combined entity admires each other's bold thinking and deep relationships across the in-house ecosystem. They aim to help legal functions integrate with business to deliver measurable impact at scale.
Both companies have helped clients navigate and capitalise on emerging trends, including in the areas of value capture, risk management, legal tech, and AI-readiness. This merger is set to create a powerhouse in the legal consulting industry, promising a future of innovative solutions and improved business value for clients.
