Kia reports an 8% increase in July sales, with the Carens Clavis significantly boosting the upward trend
The automotive market in India is witnessing a surge in demand for Kia vehicles, with the South Korean brand reporting a 11.45% increase in year-to-date sales compared to the same period last year. As of 2025, Kia India's sales have reached 163,439 units, a significant leap from the 146,644 units sold in 2024.
This growth can be attributed to Kia's commitment to delivering high-quality and feature-rich vehicles. The Seltos and Sonet, two of Kia's most popular models, continue to be strong sellers. However, the spotlight is now on the Kia Carens Clavis EV, the flagship upcoming electric model for 2025 in India.
Launched in July 2025, the Carens Clavis EV marks a significant step for Kia into the mass-market electric MPV segment. The vehicle offers seating for seven in a 2+3+2 layout, comes with two battery options (42 kWh and 51.4 kWh), and targets practical conditions in India with IP67-certified water-resistant batteries and 200 mm ground clearance. Pricing starts from approximately Rs 17.99 lakh ex-showroom across three variants (HTK+, HTX, HTX+).
The Carens Clavis EV has received a strong response from customers, who appreciate its performance, range, and practicality. In contrast, details about another upcoming electric model, the Syros EV, remain limited, with specifics on its powertrain and design yet to be revealed. The Syros EV is expected to be launched in early 2026.
Besides the Carens Clavis EV and Syros EV, Kia has several other models scheduled for release in India around 2025-2026, including the New Seltos, expected in November 2025, and the Tasman, expected in June 2026.
Joonso Cho, Chief Sales Officer of Kia India, expressed his satisfaction with the steady sales performance, stating that it reflects the trust Indian customers have in Kia. Cho reiterated Kia's focus on creating accessible and innovative mobility solutions for the Indian market.
In July 2025, Kia's exports remained flat with 2,590 units shipped overseas, compared to the same month in 2024 when 2,500 units were shipped. Despite this, Kia continues to make strides in the Indian market, positioning itself as a key player in the country's automotive landscape.
