Kazakhstan Urged to Boost Food Production Amid Price Surge
Kazakhstan's Minister of Trade and Integration, Bakhyt Sultanov, has urged the Ministry of Agriculture and regional leaders to boost food production. This comes amidst a significant rise in food prices, with the Minister of Agriculture, Aidarbek Saparov, acknowledging the issue as of August 5, 2025.
Food prices in Kazakhstan surged by nearly 2.5% in February 2023. This increase is attributed to a delicate balance between production and consumption, as well as the ratio of imported to exported goods. Minister Sultanov has expressed dissatisfaction with the current stabilization fund reserves, stating their ineffectiveness in managing food prices.
In response to the rising food prices, Minister Bakhyt Sultanov has emphasized the need for increased food production. The Ministry of Agriculture, led by Minister Aidarbek Saparov, and regional leaders are expected to play a crucial role in addressing this challenge.
