Kazakhstan and Poland Reinforce Economic Ties

In a significant step towards boosting bilateral relations, Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu and Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski affirmed their commitment to strengthen political dialogue, expand trade, economic, and investment ties during a meeting in Warsaw on May 23rd.

The diplomats emphasized the substantial potential for expanding cooperation across various sectors, such as transportation, energy, pharmaceuticals, education, food industry, and the production of construction materials. They noted the role of the Kazakh-Polish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation, with the 10th meeting scheduled for the fall, in facilitating these endeavors.

In light of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route's growing significance in economic connectivity between Asia and Europe, Kazakhstan invited Polish businesses to collaborate on joint logistics and infrastructure projects to capitalize on new trade and investment opportunities.

Following their meeting, the ministries agreed on a Cooperation Program for 2025-2027.

Deepening Economic Ties with Polish Businesses

Subsequently, Nurtleu held discussions with executives of key Polish companies. These talks focused on expanding bilateral economic ties through the localization of production and implementation of joint investment projects in Kazakhstan. Polish partners expressed interest in sustainable industrial cooperation and technology sharing.

The meeting with Pronar's management explored opportunities for localizing the production of agricultural and municipal machinery in Kazakhstan, as well as prospects for technology transfer and workforce training. In the field of construction chemicals, the meeting with Selena FM S.A. focused on launching new production facilities and introducing innovative materials to the Kazakh market.

The pharmaceutical sector was on the agenda during discussions with TZF Polfa S.A., with plans for projects including technology transfer and contract manufacturing of unique medicinal products. With the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Polpharma Group, the interlocutors considered investment expansion, cooperation in scientific research, and strengthening partnerships in the pharmaceutical industry.

Nurtleu recognized Polpharma Group's role in providing humanitarian aid to affected regions in Kazakhstan in 2024, and the company's willingness to support cultural exchange programs featuring Kazakh creative groups in Poland.

In terms of government support, initiatives like the DAMU Fund provide financing and guarantees to foreign-led projects, which helps to bolster European firms' confidence in local manufacturing, agribusiness, and logistics sectors as Kazakhstan transitions to value-added production. Additionally, Poland has voiced support for Kazakhstan's initiative to simplify the visa regime between the European Union and Kazakhstan.

Promoting Collaboration in Politics and BusinessThe deepening economic ties were further underscored by Kazakhstan's initiative to simplify the visa regime between the European Union and Kazakhstan, acting in solidarity with Polish support for this endeavor, aligning politics and business for a stronger future.
