JMEC Recognized as a Recent Recipient of Living Wage Certification
Jersey Construction Firm JMEC Achieves Living Wage Accreditation
In a move that highlights the company's commitment to fair wages, construction firm JMEC has been accredited as a new member of the "Jersey Living Wage" employers group. This accreditation, managed and coordinated by Caritas Jersey, acknowledges JMEC's dedication to paying a living wage.
The Jersey Living Wage is separate from the minimum wage in Jersey. It takes into account the cost of living, taxes, and the value of benefits available to working people on low incomes. The current rate of the Jersey Living Wage stands at £14.13 per hour.
JMEC, with over 25 years of industry experience, joins a growing number of businesses in Jersey being recognised as "Jersey Living Wage" employers. The finance director of JMEC, Tim Dunningham, stated that the company has always paid a living wage to its employees.
Caritas Jersey CEO, Patrick Lynch, expressed his happiness about accrediting JMEC, stating that he encourages other firms to follow JMEC's example. Mr. Lynch also expressed concern about the ongoing cost of living crisis on the island and hopes that more businesses will join the movement to ensure fair wages for all.
The accreditation also ensures that JMEC's subcontractors receive the living wage, further solidifying the company's commitment to fair labour practices. This development marks a significant step towards creating a more equitable work environment in Jersey's construction industry.
