Investment firm ROCA departs from Artesana Dairy following a five-year tenure

In a strategic move, private equity firm Booster Capital has acquired a 20% stake in Romanian artisanal dairy producer Artesana, marking a new phase of growth for the company. This acquisition was finalised in July 2025 [1][3].

Artesana, founded in 2012, has experienced remarkable growth over the past few years. The dairy's turnover tripled from 17.8 million RON in 2020 to over 55 million RON in 2024 [3]. The company has also reported a four-fold increase in production capacity and a 3% net profit margin in 2024 [4].

Booster Capital's investment in Artesana is intended to further fuel this growth. The plans include capital injection for ongoing expansion, a likely continuation of increasing production capacity and market reach, and potential acquisitions to complement Artesana’s artisanal dairy portfolio [1][3]. The aim is to reinforce Artesana's position as a leading local producer in Romania’s artisanal dairy segment [2][4].

The transaction has been facilitated by legal firms Filip & Company and RTPR, underscoring the strategic importance of this investment [2][4][5]. Artesana's co-founder, Daniel Donici, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, citing medium and long-term alignment, Booster's experience, and shared values as the driving factors [4].

Looking ahead, Artesana expects to increase its turnover to EUR 15 million in 2025. The company's products are currently available in most supermarket chains, local chains, specialized stores, Romanian stores in the diaspora, and countries such as the United Kingdom, Belgium, Luxembourg, Denmark, and Germany [6].

The construction of a new dairy factory by Artesana began in April 2021, and the facility was inaugurated in 2023, following an investment of EUR 6 million [7]. The future plans for the artisanal cheese section project, estimated to cost over EUR 10 million, have not been disclosed [8].

As Artesana embarks on this new chapter under Booster Capital's ownership, it is poised to continue its growth trajectory, with a focus on capital-backed growth, expanding capacity and product range, increasing national and international distribution, and possibly pursuing acquisitions to strengthen its artisanal dairy leadership.
