Toyota Venza: A Luxurious SUV Debuting at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show

Toyota is set to unveil a new mid-size SUV, the Toyota Venza, at the 2021 Guangzhou Auto Show. The vehicle, produced by the GAC-Toyota joint venture, is designed specifically for the Chinese market and will boast a range of luxurious features, similar to those found in Lexus models.

The Venza will be available with two powertrains: a 2.0 four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 171 hp, and a hybrid system that combines a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with two electric motors (one at the front and one at the rear), resulting in a combined output of 219 hp. Notably, the Venza no longer offers a V6 engine option.

The hybrid powertrain is mated to an E-CVT transmission and comes with four-wheel drive, ensuring a smooth and efficient driving experience.

While the Venza shares many similarities with its Japanese counterpart, there are some key differences. The paint quality and finish on the Japan-made Venza (essentially the Harrier) are slightly superior, with a more even and consistent texture. The China-made Venza, on the other hand, shows some unevenness and wave-like variations in paint thickness.

The design of the China-made Venza also differs from its Japanese counterpart, but both versions offer a spacious interior and a large cargo area in the back. One standout feature is the Star Gazing Panoramic Roof, which allows for an opaque or clear view at the press of a button.

The Venza is priced to be competitive with other Toyota models, but it offers a level of luxury typically associated with Lexus. With its luxurious features, efficient powertrains, and stylish design, the Toyota Venza is poised to make a strong impression in the Chinese market.
