International Financial Director from Haitong joins Reed Smith as a Partner in Debt Finance Division
Evelyn Wang, a highly-regarded cross-border debt finance specialist, has joined global law firm Reed Smith in its Hong Kong office as a partner. This appointment, announced earlier this year, is part of Reed Smith's commitment to strengthening its Asia corporate practice [1][2].
Evelyn Wang's extensive experience in advising on complex financial transactions that span multiple jurisdictions, particularly in debt financing deals, will greatly benefit Reed Smith's clients. Prior to joining Reed Smith, she was a director in the Loan Capital Markets team at Haitong International Securities Group, where she worked on both the borrower and lender sides of transactions.
Evelyn's expertise encompasses cross-border leveraged and acquisition financing, margin financing, and fund financing. Before her tenure at Haitong International, she worked at Kirkland & Ellis. Her experience in debt finance matters extends across Greater China and Southeast Asia.
Praj Samant, Asia-Pacific managing partner at Reed Smith, expressed his delight at Evelyn's arrival, stating that she is a highly regarded lawyer with superb technical acumen. Johnny Lim, Asia co-chair of Reed Smith's global corporate group, echoed this sentiment, expressing his excitement to have Evelyn on board.
The appointment of Evelyn Wang strengthens Reed Smith's finance capabilities in the region and underscores the firm's commitment to the Asian market. This move comes after the arrival of Regina Lui, a corporate finance partner, from A&O Shearman in May, and Arthur Tso, an equity capital markets partner, who joined Reed Smith from DLA Piper in December 2024.
However, the departure of Michael Sinn, a banking partner, and Patrick Wong, a corporate specialist, from Reed Smith's Hong Kong office this year has left a slight void. Nevertheless, with the addition of Evelyn Wang and other key hires, Reed Smith continues to demonstrate its dedication to providing its clients with a broader range of services in the Asia-Pacific region.
