Iași receives initial delivery of 18 new trams supplied by Bozankaya
In Eastern Romania, Bozankaya, a Turkish manufacturer specializing in eco-friendly public transport vehicles, has handed over the first of eighteen trams to the Municipality of Iași. As per the RON 141.4 million contract, the remaining trams will be delivered in three-month installments. These trams are designed specifically for the city of Iași and feature three modules, accommodating up to 200 passengers. Measuring 20 meters in length and 2.4 meters in width, they are currently the latest addition to the modern fleet of 16 Bozankaya trams already running on Iași streets.
The local government emphasizes these investments as part of a broader initiative to modernize and enhance the quality of public transport in the city. According to Mihai Chirica, Iași City Hall consistently supports local public transport and aims to modernize it further by executing new projects, particularly with European funding.
Tufan Özkan, Bozankaya's Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer, expressed that the company's European market presence will be further strengthened soon. Beyond Romania, Bozankaya is set to increase its market share in Italy, Serbia, and the Czech Republic through upcoming projects. The company aims to demonstrate its engineering expertise and production strength in these regions, positioning itself as a key player in the urban transport sector across Europe.
