Hermès Reports 13% Revenue Surge in Q1 2024 Despite Global Uncertainties
Luxury goods titan Hermès has reported impressive growth, defying global uncertainties. The French company revealed a 13% increase in consolidated revenue for the first quarter of 2024, reaching 3.8 billion euros.
Hermès' sales surged across all geographical regions. Europe led the way with a 14% increase, followed by the Americas with a 10% uptick. Even other regions, the smallest by revenue, saw a remarkable 111% rise. Japan and Asia (excluding Japan) also performed strongly, with 11% and 9% growth respectively.
The company's unique business model allowed it to maintain this growth trajectory. Hermès expanded its retail presence, opening its 34th store in China and a new location in Tokyo. It also announced plans to open its 41st U.S. store in Princeton, New Jersey. This expansion strategy has contributed to the double-digit sales growth Hermès experienced in every geographical area.
Hermès' iconic products continue to drive demand. The price of the popular Kelly 25 Sellier Epsom bag has increased by about 15% between 2019 and 2024. This rise in prices, coupled with increased sales, has led to a 16% year-over-year fiscal 2023 revenue increase.
Hermès' first quarter of 2024 results demonstrate the company's resilience and continued appeal to consumers. Despite global uncertainties, Hermès has managed to grow its revenue by 13%, reaching approximately $4.1 billion. With a strong performance across all regions and a robust business model, Hermès is well-positioned for future growth.
