Heading Off on the Nemo Shuttle Journey
*Catch a Ride with Neuss' NEmo Shuttle!
Step into the future of public transit as Neuss City Works fires up its on-demand NEmo Shuttle service on 29.02.24! This taxi-style service sweeps across Speck/Wehl/Helpenstein, Hoisten, Rosellen, Norf, Grefrath, and Holzheim - with frequent southern S-Bahn stations like Holzheim, Norf, and Allerheiligen thrown into the mix.
The service integrates seamlessly with the city's traditional transit network, running Mondays through Thursdays from 6:30 AM to 11 PM, Fridays from 6:30 AM to 2 AM, Saturdays from 8 AM to 2 AM, and Sundays from 8 AM to 10 PM.
Ready to roll? Hop onto the "NEmo Shuttle" app and book your ride! Choose your starting and ending points, along with pick-up/drop-off times. The app'll show you the nearest stops for your journey, with over 4,000 stops within walking distance. Just remember, the maximum wait time after booking is a brisk 30 minutes.
Behind the scenes, an algorithm whips your trip requests into shape, squeezing them together for the most efficient routes. Passengers can climb aboard anywhere along the route, splitting the cost equally amongst travelers. A 4 km ride to your destination maxes out at €4.40, using the VRR on-demand tariff. Aboticket customers and groups receive a discount. And for the first five trips, it's free until 30 April!
The accessible NEmo Shuttles feature side entry, ramps for mobility-impaired passengers, and room for small luggage. Each shuttle boasts a comfortable six seats, akin to taxis. As its own on-demand charging infrastructure in the Taubental industrial area isn't ready yet, vehicles will get a charge-up at Yanfeng's charging park for now.
"Neuss needs a mobility revolution to become eco-friendly by 2035," exclaims Mayor and Chairman of Neuss City Works GmbH, Reiner Breuer. "This involves fostering bike transport and creatively expanding public transit. With these on-demand buses, Neuss City Works is stronger linking the rural southern districts to its bus network and S-Bahn stations."
"NEmo Shuttle offers an innovative travel option as a pilot project, complementing our classic public transport in southern Neuss. Our on-demand shuttles provide individual, flexible, and quiet, eco-friendly travel from A to B," explains Neuss City Works CEO, Stephan Lommetz.
