Halloween Spending to Reach Record $13.1 Billion in 2025
Halloween spending is set to hit a record high this year, according to a survey by Prosper Insights & Analytics. Consumers are expected to spend a total of $13.1 billion, surpassing the previous record of $12.2 billion set in 2018. This year's spending is driven by a rise in per-person expenditure, which has reached $114.45.
Nearly three-quarters of consumers (73%) plan to celebrate Halloween, similar to last year. Top activities include handing out candy (66%), dressing up in costume (51%), and decorating their home or yard (51%). This year, consumers are expected to spend $1.4 billion on children's costumes and $2 billion on adult costumes, with pets also joining in on the celebrations, contributing to a $0.86 billion spend on pet costumes. Discount stores remain the top destination for buying Halloween items, with 42% of consumers planning to shop there.
The National Retail Federation's data shows that Halloween spending is expected to reach a record high this year, with a total of $13.1 billion. This figure is driven by a rise in per-person expenditure and a broad range of celebratory activities, from dressing up to decorating homes and buying pet costumes.
