Goodwin Procter Boosts Hong Kong Private Funds Practice with Youjung Byon Hire
Goodwin Procter has bolstered its private investment funds practice in Hong Kong with the hire of Youjung Byon as a partner. Byon brings over 15 years of experience advising Asia-based private fund sponsors on fund formations and fundraisings, including buyout, growth capital, debt, venture capital, and real estate funds. She also provides counsel on governance matters, co-investment transactions, and regulatory issues. Michael Halford, a partner in Goodwin's private equity group, praised Byon's ability to lead complex fund formations, fundraisings, and mandates. Gregory Barclay, chair of Goodwin's Singapore office, noted the increase in spin-off and fund-raising opportunities in Asia. Byon's regional expertise and strong client relationships make her an excellent fit for the firm's expanding Asian practice. With Byon's addition, Goodwin now has 20 lawyers based in Hong Kong, including seven partners. Youjung Byon joins Goodwin Procter from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher where she was an of counsel. Her extensive experience and expertise will strengthen Goodwin's private investment funds offering in Hong Kong, helping the firm capitalise on the growing opportunities in the Asian market.
