German & Polish Police Launch Joint Crime Scene Investigation Project
Representatives from German and Polish police forces have begun a collaborative project aimed at enhancing cross-border crime scene investigation. Funded by the Interreg VI A cooperation program and the Metropolis Stettin Fund, the initiative seeks to recognise different working methods and develop uniform investigation procedures.
The project, set to conclude with a large-scale practical exercise in February 2026, kicked off with a meeting between German and Polish police representatives. They discussed potential areas of cooperation, with a focus on improving crime scene investigation techniques.
Workshops are planned in Waren/Müritz, where German and Polish colleagues will come together to learn from each other. Mutual visits are also on the agenda, further fostering understanding and collaboration. To facilitate this, 360-degree cameras and data protection-compliant tablets and laptops will be acquired, advancing crime scene investigation in the border region.
The project, funded by the European Union under the Interreg program, is expected to result in improved criminal investigations at the Germany-Poland border. By recognising different working methods and developing common standards, the project aims to strengthen cooperation and enhance cross-border policing.
