Galata Wind secures a new solar energy agreement in Germany, aiming to reach a capacity of 92 MW in Europe by 2026.

Galata Wind Expands European Renewable Energy Portfolio

Galata Wind, a subsidiary of Turkish Dogan Holding, is set to significantly increase its renewable energy capacity in Europe. The company has announced plans to invest in solar power projects in Germany and Italy, with a total capacity of 92 MW by 2026.

The investments support Galata Wind's broader goal of reaching 300 MW in international renewable capacity between 2025 and 2027. The company's focus on Europe is evident, as it aims to achieve 83 MW in Germany alone.

In Germany, Galata Wind has acquired two solar power projects. The projects, located in Bavaria, will contribute an additional 21 MW of installed capacity. These projects will be structured as Agri-PV systems, combining agricultural land use with solar electricity generation. This approach not only optimises land efficiency but also promotes sustainable farming practices.

The Agri-PV systems will be paired with standalone battery storage units to optimise energy delivery to the grid. All units are planned to connect through a single grid point, enabling operational synergy between solar and storage assets. Galata Wind CEO Burak Kuyan stated that the new agreements mark a strategic advancement in the company's global expansion.

In Italy, Galata Wind has purchased shares in two project companies, Montescaglioso 1 S.r.l. and Ferrandina 14 S.r.l., through its local subsidiary, Solevento Investments S.R.L. These projects, with a combined installed capacity of 9 MW, are construction-ready and are expected to come online in 2026.

Galata Wind is also considering participation in Italy's FERX program, a national auction mechanism designed to support renewable energy development. The Italian projects are expected to benefit from recently introduced national incentives for renewable energy.

With the completion of the German and Italian deals, Galata Wind's total installed capacity in Europe is set to reach 52 MW from solar PV and 40 MW from battery storage. The company's commitment to sustainable, low-emission energy and its presence across European markets is reinforced by these investments.
