Funding Secured: AI-Powered Cloud System Platform Obtains $21 Million in Series A Investment

In a significant development for the AI industry, E2B, a pioneering company specialising in essential infrastructure for AI agents, has secured $21 million in Series A funding. The round was led by Insight Partners, with support from Decibel, Sunflower Capital, Kaya, and angel investor Scott Johnston.

Insight Partners' Managing Director, Praveen Akkiraju, expressed his excitement about backing E2B's visionary team and their mission to provide a secure, scalable, and open-source cloud sandbox infrastructure uniquely tailored for AI agents. He believes that E2B's open-source sandbox standard will become a cornerstone of secure and scalable AI adoption.

Vasek Mlejnsky, Co-founder and CEO of E2B, asserts that the future of enterprise productivity is agent-driven. E2B's infrastructure offers sandboxed cloud environments that provide agents with the same computational tools as human workers, including a dedicated virtual computer, browser, file system, and compute platforms to execute AI-generated code securely and efficiently.

Key features of E2B's infrastructure include an open-source sandbox protocol becoming a universal standard for AI agent environments, a modular, extensible architecture supporting pluggable enterprise-grade add-ons, and support for agentic workflows enabling AI agents to chain complex tasks, maintain state, interact with external tools and systems, and execute operations rapidly.

The benefits for enterprises include rapid scalability to millions of virtual personal computers, high-speed execution essential for real-time or near-real-time AI agent outputs, security and transparency through sandbox isolation and open-source standards, and the ability to run securely within customers’ clouds.

E2B aims to establish this infrastructure as a standard runtime platform for the next era of agent-driven enterprise productivity, accelerating AI adoption at scale among Fortune 100 companies and beyond. Currently, 88% of Fortune 100 companies have signed up with E2B, including AI companies like Hugging Face, Perplexity, and Groq.

The funds will be used to expand E2B's cloud offerings and scale its global enterprise teams. Praveen Akkiraju, Managing Director at Insight Partners, mentions that such rapid growth and enterprise adoption can be difficult to achieve, but they believe that E2B will succeed.

This funding announcement marks a significant step forward in E2B's mission to equip AI agents with safe, scalable, and highly performant cloud infrastructure, addressing the issue of AI agents scaling and performing on legacy infrastructure not designed for agentic use. By providing secure and quickly deployable cloud sandboxes for AI agents to perform complex tasks, E2B is poised to revolutionise the AI industry and drive the next era of work.
