Friends in America and the recipient of the Fortunino Award
The International Friends of Festival Verdi (Iffv), a non-profit association established in the United States in 2017, continues to make significant contributions to the world of opera and Verdi's music. With approximately 100 members hailing from finance, publishing, and business, the Iffv extends its activities both domestically and overseas.
One of the Iffv's primary focuses is the annual Parma festival and the Teatro Regio. The association supports the festival through award presentations and fund-raising activities, helping to ensure its continued success. In fact, last year, the Iffv's fund-raising efforts reached an impressive two million euros.
The Parma festival has received recognition at the International Opera Awards, being crowned "Best Festival" in a testament to its quality and impact. The 2024 edition of the festival, supported by the Iffv, boasts an impressive Social Return On Investment (Sroi) of 3.2, a record for the event. This indicates that for every euro invested in the festival, it generates three euros in social benefits.
The Iffv is also dedicated to promoting new studies and research on Verdi's music. To this end, they present the Fortunino Award, named after Verdi's second name, to young talents participating in the Parma festival. In the spring of this year, the Fortunino Prize was awarded in New York at Lincoln Center to a distinguished individual for exceptional contributions to the promotion and interpretation of Verdi's works.
This spring, the Iffv will present the Fortunino Award to emerging young talents from the Festival at the Lincoln Center in New York. The award serves as a platform to recognise and support the next generation of Verdi interpreters.
The Iffv's activities also extend to presenting awards at international venues such as the Lincoln Center in New York. They aim to promote Verdi's music through appropriate education and entertainment strategies, reaching a wide audience and fostering a deeper appreciation for the composer's works.
In addition to its support of the Parma festival, the Iffv is involved in fund-raising activities. The members of the Iffv generously contribute to the festival, helping to secure its future and ensure its continued success. The Iffv's efforts are making a significant difference in the world of opera, celebrating Verdi's music and nurturing the talents of tomorrow.
