Facility Expansion Announcements and Plans for Future Development from March 2025
Chasing the Pace in Manufacturing: March's Exciting Expansion Announcements
Let's dive into some thrilling manufacturing news that graced our screens last month! Here's a rundown of three facility announcements made in March, each promising a fresh wave of innovation and job opportunities.
Mitsubishi Electric Power Products Inc. (MEPPI):
In the heart of Pennsylvania, MEPPI decided to make a hoofprint bigger than a bald eagle’s by breaking ground on a grand 160,000 square-foot switchgear factory in the adorable town of New Galilee. This badass move requires an investment of $86 million, with expectations of creating at least 200 new jobs in the Pittsburgh region.
"We're not just building a new factory; we're pushing Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment in North America. We’re engineering and delivering the infrastructure of the future," explained MEPPI’s President and CEO, Tricia Breeger.
This industrial oasis won't be just a factory; it will be home to a testing lab and expanded power electronics facilities, ready to meet growing electricity demands and facilitate the transition into producing vacuum breakers.
This expansion is backed by a $2.75 million Pennsylvania First grant and a $4 million Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program grant. According to Breeger, this investment will not only boost the company's capacity but also create jobs, contribute to the local community, and help MEPPI better serve its customers.
American Event Services:
Temperature control equipment manufacturer American Event Services decided to grasp the Danville, Illinois, brass ring by announcing the purchase of a new facility to serve as their primary manufacturing facility for HVAC and fluid handling equipment. This 51,900 square-foot facility will also become their North American headquarters, providing more production flexibility and launching a new R&D center dedicated to product development excellence.
CEO Tony Tauer shared his enthusiasm, "By acquiring this facility in Danville, we’re expanding our local employee base and reinforcing our 'Made in America' commitment." American Event Services plans to consolidate smaller plants in the area into one mega-factory. To optimize manufacturing throughput, the company will apply lean techniques such as one-piece flow, 5S, and visual controls.
Nortek Data Center Cooling:
Focusing on liquid cooling solutions for AI-ready data centers, Nortek Data Center Cooling (DCC) announced an expansion to their already substantial 390,000 square-foot facility in Dyersburg, Tennessee. Plans to scale operations aim to meet the ever-increasing demand for data centers and grow the workforce by 100 to 120 new positions in the coming months.
"As demand for data centers continues to grow, our ambition is two-fold: to be the leading provider of data center cooling innovation; and to be a leading employer in the area. As we grow, we want to make it possible for our valued employees to grow too,” says Bobby Sawyer, General Manager of the Dyersburg facility.
