_Fishin'Good Times coming to Bantayan Island!

Prepare your nets and wet your whistles, folks! The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Central Visayas (BFAR 7) is partnering up with the Bantayan Local Government Unit (LGU) to shake things up in the aquatic world of Bantayan Island! 🐟🐙🐡

BFAR 7's Regional Director, Mario Ruinata, and incoming Mayor Orlando Layese sealed the deal in a meeting on June 18, 2025. The main event? The turnover of BFAR 7's beloved multi-species marine hatchery to Bantayan LGU, effective from January 1, 2026. But worry not, BFAR 7 will still pop in from time to time to offer technical support and regular monitoring, ensuring the hatchery's longevity 🤝

In an effort to foster sustainable growth, the government is investing in the culture and finance of Bantayan Island's aquatic industry. The partnership between BFAR 7 and the Bantayan LGU also aims to bolster the local business ecosystem by promoting responsible fishing practices.
