EventCity's unique construction plans given the green light
New EventCity Venue to Open in Spring 2021
EventCity, the popular events venue in Manchester, is set to undergo a significant transformation. The current site on Barton Dock Road will become Therme Manchester, a health and wellbeing resort, while a new bespoke events facility will rise on the former Soccerdome site in TraffordCity.
The new EventCity venue will be a 23,700 sq. m facility, catering for conferences, exhibitions, gala dinners, and meetings. ASK Media Group, the company financing the construction, has invested £50 million in the project. Peel L&P, the venue's owners, will also invest multi-millions of pounds.
The new venue will be more flexible, allowing for areas to be divided off with acoustic walls for multiple news at once. This will provide a versatile space for various events, enhancing the overall experience for guests.
The location of the new venue is convenient, being just a 15-minute drive to Manchester Airport and close to City Airport. It is also ultra-connected via road, tram, bike, and walking access. The Metrolink, due to open in TraffordCity Spring 2020, will be a seven-minute walk from the new EventCity location.
EventCity's new home will be closer to existing leisure destinations and hotels within TraffordCity, offering ample free parking and excellent road and public transport access. Guests can enjoy a variety of activities nearby, such as indoor skiing at Chill Factore, indoor skydiving at iFLY, and adventure golf at Dino-Falls.
The resort is located near the intu Trafford Centre, one of the UK's most dynamic shopping and leisure destinations. Shops and eateries like Selfridges, John Lewis, Carluccio's, and Yang Sing Cathay are all within easy reach.
Further details regarding the development of the new site will be announced at a later date. EventCity and Peel L&P have entered a new, long-term lease of 25 years for the new venue. The doors to the new venue are expected to open in Spring 2021.
Therme Manchester will offer various activities for all, including thrill-seekers, relaxation enthusiasts, and shoppers. The first health and wellbeing resort of its kind in the UK, Therme Manchester promises to be an exciting addition to the Manchester cityscape.
