Entrepreneur requests clarification regarding suspected breach attributed to Sesco
In an unexpected turn of events, a 51-year-old businesswoman named Lai is seeking clarification from energy provider Sesco following an alleged intrusion into her Sibu home on Suarah Road on April 17. The incident in question involves Sesco taking away Lai's electricity meter.
According to Lai, she returned home around 1:30 PM on that day to find her main gate and door wide open. Upon entering her house, she discovered a notice from Sesco on her dining table stating that they had taken away her electricity meter due to it not having a digital display.
Lai claims to have lost approximately RM3,000 as a result of the intrusion, and the incident occurred when the house owners or occupants were not at home. Adding to her concerns, Lai mentioned that two young Rottweiler dogs, which were in the house at the time, are believed to have left when the main gate was opened.
Lee Seng Onn, Sibu DAP assistant secretary, has also called for an explanation from Sesco, stating that their staff have no right to enter properties to take away electricity meters without prior notification to the house owner or occupants. He also mentioned that many other people besides Lai have had their electricity meters taken away when they were not at home.
In light of these concerns, Lee Seng Onn has lodged a police report and suggested that Sesco should notify house owners or occupants before entering a house to dismantle power meters. He also stated that it is now up to the police to investigate the incident.
At the time of writing, Sesco has not issued a statement regarding the incident. The search results mainly relate to career opportunities at SDEC and do not mention incidents involving Sesco or electrical meter removal. Therefore, based on the current search data, it cannot be confirmed that such an event occurred.
The general-news outlets are reporting that Lee Seng Onn, the Sibu DAP assistant secretary, has questioned the finance practices of energy provider Sesco, following an incident where their staff allegedly took away a businesswoman's electricity meter without prior notice. In crime-and-justice sections, it is stated that Lai, the businesswoman, lost approximately RM3,000 due to the intrusion and is calling for improved business ethics and justice in such situations.
