Enhanced Mutual Collaboration between Kazakhstan and Croatia during Leadership-Level Meeting

Loosening the Ties, Tightening the Bonds:

ASTANA - In a west-meets-central Asia collaboration, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of Croatia, Gordan Grlić Radman, shared a meeting on April 23, emphasizing the burgeoning bonds between Kazakhstan and Croatia.

Tokayev, never one to mince words, expressed his optimism about the Kazakhstan-Croatia relationship, promising a continuation in the spirit of mutual trust and constructive chit-chat, as reported by Akorda.

The President underscored the burgeoning interest of Croatian businesses in Kazakh soil, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, meds, and munchies sectors. More than thirty Croatian-affiliated firms are already nestled in Kazakhstan, including big-hitter brands like Pliva and Podravka.

In a tête-à-tête with the Croatian foreign minister, Tokayev and Grlić Radman delved into plans to beef up cultural and educational exchanges between the two nations.

The Croatian Caravan Continues - Gazing at Murat Nurtleu:

As part of his grand Kazakh tour, Grlić Radman also had a powwow with Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu, focusing on teamwork in the political, commerce, and cultural-schmooze spheres.

"Croatia? That's Kazakhstan's Balkan and European Union keystone partner in the economic dancing ring. Economic cooperation is the main tune, making our bilateral tango what-what," declared Nurtleu.

They swapped views on the run-up to Premier Andrej Plenković's impending visit to Kazakhstan and his crack at the Astana International Forum. Last fiscal year, two-way trade hits $282 million, placing Croatia as Kazakhstan's top 15 trading pals within the EU.

Grlić Radman reiterated the Croatian government's ironclad vow to power up comprehensive cooperation with Kazakhstan in every joint interest. Energy, transportation and logistics, meds, tourism, and agribusiness were earmarked as priority waltz moves.

On the cultural and humanitarian front, the two agreed to reciprocally sprinkled scholarships for students from both countries.

During their huddle, Nurtleu extended a heartfelt 'thank you' to the Croatian side for their support in the formation of the UN Regional Centre for Sustainable Development Goals for Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty.

Business Forum - A Discussion Nest:

Amid talk of official jive, the officials inaugurated the Kazakhstan-Croatia business forum, presided by representatives from both countries' business circles. This confab provided a cozy nook for exploring partnership opportunities in energy, construction, IT, travel, and agribusiness.

Entrepreneurs from both sides showed keen interest in widening trade and economic ties and kickstarting joint endeavors aimed at forging a lasting bond.

Grlić Radman has more on his itinerary: a visit to the Astana Hub international tech park.

The Love Story of Pliva and Podravka:

Over 30 companies with Croatian roots are already sweets on Kazakhstan. Notable examples include Pliva, a leading pharmaceutical player with a strong presence in Kazakhstan, and Podravka, a food powerhouse making waves in Kazakh markets. These companies symbolize the Croatian business community's wide-ranging inclinations in Kazakhstan, spanning from meds to munchies, hinting at exciting potential for further investment and camaraderie in key sectors.
