Dubai Duty Free Becomes World's First Airport Retailer to Earn Autism Certification
Dubai Duty Free has made history by becoming the world's first airport retailer to earn the Certified Autism CenterTM (CAC) designation. The retailer has introduced globally recognised practices to create an inclusive shopping experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive customers, demonstrating its commitment to supporting initiatives that empower free people and strengthen inclusivity across the community.
The certification process involved over 4,800 Dubai Duty Free employees completing specialized autism training, with a remarkable 98.76% completion rate achieved in just 26 days. Ramesh Cidambi, Managing Director of Dubai Duty Free, acknowledged this significant achievement. To ensure consistency in support, each shift will have an assigned 'Autism Champion'.
Dubai Duty Free has introduced several initiatives to aid autistic customers. Frontline employees will wear sunflower pins, dedicated counters will display the symbol, and sensory kits will be made available to travellers. The retailer has also been named a strategic partner for the upcoming 7th AccessAbilities Expo in Dubai, further cementing its dedication to improving the lives of people with disabilities.
Dubai Duty Free's CAC designation and inclusive measures are set to enhance the shopping experience for autistic and sensory-sensitive customers.
