In a recent blog post, Epic Games announced the Creator Ecosystem Update for Fortnite, a significant step towards empowering content creators within the popular game. Starting from December 2025, Fortnite creators will be able to sell epic in-game items and cosmetics on their own Fortnite Islands. Until the end of 2026, these creators will keep all profits from these sales, marking a period of full ownership for them. The items sold by creators will be categorized as either 'consumable' (single or limited-use items) or 'durable' (skins and other cosmetics). The value of V-Bucks earned from these sales will be determined based on customer real-money spending, platform and store fees, and total V-Bucks spent by players. For instance, if a creator sells V-Bucks worth 50%, they will receive approximately 37% of the retail spending. On the other hand, if a creator sells V-Bucks worth 100%, they will receive approximately 74% of the retail spending. In addition to direct sales, creators will also earn additional revenue from an 'engagement pool' based on player time, money spent, and user retention on their island. From January 2027 onwards, Epic Games will take a 50% share of the profits to help fund the game's ecosystem. This move is aimed at ensuring the sustainability and continuous evolution of Fortnite, a game known for its regular updates and innovations. It's important to note that no specific details about the Logitech AI-powered game streaming assistant were provided in the update. Also, no details were provided about the Power Rangers Megazord arrival in Fortnite. Another interesting feature is the ability for creators to purchase space on Sponsored Row to highlight their island to other users. This could potentially increase the visibility and sales of their items. The new feature allows developers to earn income from their own Fortnite experiences, providing a new avenue for creativity and entrepreneurship within the game. This is a testament to Epic Games' commitment to supporting and empowering the Fortnite community.
