Delightful! Dish out the Puchka! Notable Funding of USD 230k Secured by Litti by Sagar Daryani, Founder of Wow Momo, and Other Prominent Global Investors
In a significant move to formalize India's vast yet fragmented street food market, Wah! Puchka Wah! Litti, a Kolkata-based quick-service restaurant (QSR) startup, has raised $230,000 in a strategic angel funding round. The investment, led by Sagar Daryani, co-founder of popular QSR chain Wow Momo, aims to help Litti scale from its current 18 outlets to 37 outlets initially, with a goal of reaching 100 outlets across six metro cities within the next two years.
Founded by Deepak Kumar, a 26-year-old entrepreneur, Litti has a mission to transform iconic Indian street snacks into modern QSR offerings. The brand prides itself on delivering authentic, hygienic, and scalable Indian street food, maintaining strong customer ratings of 4.6+ on Swiggy and Zomato, and serving over 2 lakh happy customers.
The fresh capital will help the brand scale to 19 more outlets in Kolkata, with plans to expand further to other metro cities. The funds will also be used to strengthen the core team and build robust systems to support this expansion.
Litti recently launched its own direct-to-consumer (D2C) platform, www.wahfoods.com, for quick delivery, reflecting the brand's commitment to providing a seamless and convenient dining experience.
Sagar Daryani, co-founder & CEO of Wow! Momo, has invested in the venture, expressing his belief in Litti's potential to revolutionize the Indian street food landscape. Deepak Kumar, the founder of Litti, can be reached at [email protected] or +91 96311 95152 for further enquiries.
This strategy mirrors the approach taken by Haldiram’s in formalizing snacks, demonstrating a growing trend towards building trusted, hygiene-oriented QSR brands in India. The online food services industry in India is projected to double to $8 billion, yet organized QSR chains account for less than half of the country's total eating-out spend. Local street food remains a USD 20 billion+ unorganized opportunity.
