In the heart of Berlin, a remarkable residential project has been completed, winning the prestigious Architecture Prize Berlin. The project, known as "m17", is located in Magazinstraße, Berlin-Mitte, and was designed by the architectural firm zanderroth in collaboration with project development company SmartHoming.

The "m17" project serves as an "adapter" and urban repair in the Magazinstraße area, aiming to complement the existing urban structures while standing out from the already listed panel buildings. The building's radically modern facade features large wooden windows, a stone facade made of lightweight concrete, and floor-to-ceiling sliding windows.

A total of 11 condominiums have been created in the project, most of which boast a clear layout with four rooms and two bathrooms. Each apartment comes equipped with high-quality features such as underfloor heating in all rooms and barrier-free access to the elevator. The basement houses storage rooms, parking spaces, and bicycle parking.

On the relatively small plot of land, around 900 square meters, a residential area of 1,064 square meters and a commercial area of 177 square meters were created. The greening of the roof adds a touch of nature to the urban environment.

SmartHoming, known for its extensive experience in implementing building community projects, and zanderroth, who have previously realized residential projects such as the "Wohnprojekt am Park" and "Neue Mitte Reinickendorf," have shown their commitment to sustainable design of the urban living space in Berlin.

The planning and realization of the "m17" project took a total of 5 years, with the project starting in 2017. The partners have already implemented further construction projects together in Berlin, including one in Pankower Thulestraße where a complete residential quarter with nearly 400 rental and owner-occupied apartments was created between 2016 and 2020.

The "m17" project is a testament to the innovative and sustainable approach to urban development in Berlin, and its award-winning design is a significant addition to the city's architectural landscape.
