Citi Shines at Euromoney Awards, Jane Fraser Named Banker of the Year

Citi's CEO honored as 'Banker of the Year' at the Euromoney Awards held in 2025.

In a remarkable display of excellence, global financial institution Citi has once again proven its mettle, claiming several prestigious awards at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2025.

The leading global financial markets magazine, Euromoney, recognised Citi as the World's Best Digital Bank for Large Corporates, the World's Best Bank for Research, and the World's Best Investment Bank for Financing and Debt Capital Markets (DCM).

This recognition affirms that Citi is on the right path, as it continues to evolve and adapt in the ever-changing financial landscape. The awards are a testament to the hard work, innovation, and commitment of Citi's colleagues worldwide.

Organizational Restructuring and Financial Improvement

Under the leadership of Jane Fraser, Citi underwent a significant transformation in 2024–2025. A sweeping reorganization, dubbed "Project Bora Bora", streamlined the bank’s structure around five core businesses: banking, markets, services, global wealth management, and US personal banking. This restructuring resulted in a more focused institution, with a 37% rise in net profit early 2025.

The financial improvement was evident, with wealth revenues increasing by 7% in 2024 and surging 24% in the first quarter of 2025. This progress was made possible by the reduction of management layers from as many as 13 down to 8, the elimination of redundant committees, and the removal of dual reporting lines. Over 50,000 employees now report to different managers, and 5,000 roles—mainly in management—were cut, with a focus on retaining top talent.

Talent Recruitment and Industry-Leading Awards

Fraser also attracted high-profile industry leaders to Citi, such as Andy Sieg (formerly of Bank of America’s Merrill Wealth Management) to head wealth management, signaling a commitment to revitalizing leadership. This commitment was further underscored by the record 52 global, regional, and local market awards that Citi won at the 2025 Euromoney Awards, reflecting its broad-based excellence, including six awards in the Middle East and Africa.

Jane Fraser: Banker of the Year

The culmination of these achievements was the naming of Jane Fraser as "Banker of the Year" at the Euromoney Awards for Excellence 2025. The award cited her decisive leadership and successful transformation of Citi into a simpler, more focused institution, as well as the bank’s record financial performance across all business lines during 2024.

Fraser attributes the new business momentum at Citi to the efforts of the company's employees. She said, "This recognition is for the hard work, innovation, and commitment of Citi's colleagues worldwide."

Citi's Commitment to Social Responsibility

In addition to its financial success, Citi also demonstrated its commitment to social responsibility. For instance, Citi Vietnam held an annual blood drive to support Vietnam's National Blood Donation Month in June.

The Asia Responsible Enterprise Awards (AREA) 2025 also honoured 81 ESG champions, further highlighting Citi's dedication to responsible business practices.

In conclusion, under Jane Fraser’s leadership, Citi achieved significant operational, financial, and reputational milestones in 2024–2025. The organization’s streamlined structure, improved financials, and industry-leading talent recruitment were central to its success. This was capped by Fraser being named “Banker of the Year” and Citi receiving a record number of awards at the 2025 Euromoney Awards for Excellence, underscoring its global leadership and renewed momentum.
