CISA Teams Up with Qualys VMDR to Boost U.S. Cybersecurity
CISA, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, has found an ally in Qualys' VMDR (Vulnerability Management, Detection, and Response) and External Attack Surface Management (EASM) solution. This tool aligns with all four goals of CISA's Strategic Plan for 2023-25, promising to enhance cybersecurity and resilience across U.S. critical infrastructure.
Qualys VMDR automates cyber risk management, correlating discovered assets and vulnerabilities. This helps CISA proactively reduce risks and build resilience (Goal 1), aiding in the protection of critical infrastructure (Goal 2).
The solution provides an 'attacker's view' of the environment, enabling CISA to harden networks against external threats. It also reduces software supply chain risk by tracking end-of-life software and exposing 'shadow IT'.
Qualys VMDR prioritizes remediation actions based on asset criticality and risk profiles, fostering a culture of excellence and ownership within CISA (Goal 4). Moreover, it facilitates whole-of-nation operational collaboration and information sharing (Goal 3), as it offers actionable intelligence, visibility, and insight into the entire internal and external attack surface.
By adopting Qualys VMDR, CISA can effectively address its strategic goals. The solution's comprehensive approach to vulnerability management and external attack surface management strengthens U.S. cybersecurity and bolsters the resilience of critical infrastructure.
