Celebrating a Decade of Uniting Colorado: Bustang's Anniversary
Bustang Expands Transportation Options in Colorado
In a celebration marking ten years of service, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Governor Jared Polis celebrated a significant milestone for the state-run interregional bus system, Bustang. The occasion was marked by increased service frequency along key lines and the construction of new mobility hubs to improve regional bus service.
CDOT has increased service frequency on the North and South I-25 routes, doubling them from six to 12 daily round trips. The I-70 West Line now runs 15 times daily, a notable increase from its original four trips. These improvements aim to cater to the rising demand for transportation services in the region.
To serve Northern Colorado, CDOT and local partners have constructed three new mobility hubs along the I-25 corridor. These hubs help expand access to Bustang, connecting communities and reducing traffic congestion. More mobility hubs are under construction nearby, with plans for others in Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Idaho Springs, Grand Junction, and Fairplay.
Bustang continues to innovate with its various services. The bus service now connects Sterling to Denver International Airport and has added a second daily round trip from Crested Butte to Denver. These additions aim to cater to both commuter and visitor demand.
The latest updates on Bustang expansion include a significant fleet increase in 2025, with 25 new coaches doubling the size of the fleet. These new coaches feature upgraded accessibility, safety, and amenities, offering passengers a more comfortable journey.
Launched in July 2015 with weekday routes between Denver, Fort Collins, Colorado Springs, and Glenwood Springs, Bustang has since grown to 20 routes, reaching all corners of the state. In the past year alone, Bustang provided 351,000 passenger trips, more than tripling its original annual ridership. Since 2015, Bustang has provided a total of 2,077,000 rides.
