Tesla Issues Recall for Model S and Model X Due to Horn Malfunction

Tesla has announced a recall for a small number of Model S and Model X vehicles due to a horn issue. This recall affects certain vehicles manufactured between May 13, 2021, and December 11, 2024.

The problem arises when a mechanical horn pad is incorrectly installed in a vehicle with a non-mechanical steering wheel, or vice versa. This malfunction can increase the risk of a crash, as a non-functioning horn poses a safety risk, as drivers cannot alert others in emergency or hazardous situations.

Tesla identified the horn issue on December 10, 2024, during a review of service and parts records. The recall affects 91 vehicles in the United States, and no accidents or injuries have been reported. However, Tesla uncovered four warranty claims potentially related to the issue.

The recall documents were posted to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) website. At the moment, the recall does not specify a remedy, but Tesla will inspect the airbag assembly on all affected vehicles and replace the part for free if it does not match the steering wheel's configuration.

Owners of the affected vehicles will be notified by Tesla and instructed to bring their cars to authorized service centers for free inspection and repair. If you own a Model S or Model X and suspect you might be affected, it’s best to contact Tesla directly or check official recall databases using your vehicle identification number (VIN) for confirmation.

This recall highlights the importance of proper airbag assembly procedures to ensure all related systems, such as the horn, operate correctly for safety compliance. Tesla encourages all owners to stay vigilant and promptly address any service-related issues to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.

In the automotive industry, Tesla has announced a recall for certain Model S and Model X vehicles due to a horn malfunction, which could potentially increase the risk of crashes, as drivers may not be able to alert others in emergency situations. This issue affects the intersection of technology and transportation, as it involves a mix of mechanical and electronic components in the airbag assembly.

Even though the recall affects only 91 vehicles in the United States, it underscores the significance of financial resources allocated towards ensuring safety regulations and proper maintenance in the finance sector, particularly for companies like Tesla with significant market influence in the industry.
