Taihan Cable & Solution Secures Major Contract for South Korea's Largest Offshore Wind Farm

Taihan Cable & Solution has secured a significant turnkey contract worth approximately KRW 181.6 billion (around US$130-131 million) to supply and install over 100 kilometers of inter-array submarine cables for the 532 MW Anma Offshore Wind Farm in South Korea. The contract duration runs until the end of 2028.

Located off the west coast of the Anma Archipelago, Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do province, the Anma project covers 83.9 million square meters and is expected to generate about 1,400 GWh annually, enough to power approximately 1.4 million households.

Taihan will manage the entire turnkey scope, including design, manufacturing, transportation, and installation of the inter-array cables. All cables will be produced at Taihan’s new Dangjin Submarine Cable Plant 1, and cable installation will be carried out using Taihan’s dedicated cable laying vessel, PALOS.

In addition to Taihan’s involvement, LS Cable & System and its subsidiary LS Marine Solution will handle the export cable (offshore export link) installation of the project. This division clarifies that Taihan focuses on internal wind farm cabling while LS Cable & System manages the export cables connecting the offshore substation to the onshore grid.

The Anma project is part of a larger Korean government offshore wind award totaling 1.9 GW in late 2024. Taihan is expanding its production capabilities, including plans for a second submarine cable plant specializing in HVDC/HVAC cables operational by 2027.

Taihan’s cable laying vessel PALOS and their extensive offshore cable experience support their competitive turnkey service offering in South Korea’s growing offshore wind sector.
