The Austrotherm Group, a leading European manufacturer of insulation materials, has announced the completion of its acquisition of Gruppo Poron in Italy. This strategic move significantly bolsters Austrotherm's presence in Southern Europe.

The acquisition of Gruppo Poron, an Italian EPS producer, adds eight production sites to Austrotherm's existing network. These new sites, coupled with Gruppo Poron's established market position, distribution network, and technical expertise, will enable Austrotherm to increase its market share, enhance its service offerings, and accelerate growth in the region.

Gruppo Poron, which employs around 170 people, has been distributing Austrotherm's XPS product portfolio in Italy since the beginning of the year. The established "Poron" brand name will be maintained, ensuring continuity for Gruppo Poron's customers and partners.

The management of Gruppo Poron will continue to be led by the Ceru family, ensuring a smooth transition and maintaining the quality and expertise that Gruppo Poron is known for.

The acquisition is subject to antitrust approval, which is expected by summer. Once approved, the expanded Austrotherm Group will operate 37 production sites for insulation materials in 14 countries, employing a total of 1,400 people.

In the 2024 financial year, the Austrotherm Group achieved a turnover of 444 million euros. With the addition of Gruppo Poron, the Group is well-positioned to continue its growth trajectory in Southern Europe and beyond.

Austrotherm Group's CEO, Heimo Pascher, stated that Gruppo Poron's eight production sites offer an efficient production and distribution network for their growth in Italy. He expressed his excitement about the opportunities that this acquisition presents for both companies and for the insulation industry in Southern Europe.
