Austrian trade representatives visit Kuwait in an effort to reinforce objectives for Kuwait's Vision 2035.
In a vibrant showcase of the bond shared between Kuwait and Austria, Kuwait welcomed a robust Austrian economic delegation aiming to escalate trade and investment ties, consistent with Kuwait Vision 2035.
Sheikh Mubarak, Chair of the Kuwaiti-Austrian Friendship Group, emphasized that trust serves as the cornerstone of their mutual relationship, paving the way for expanded economic and trade alliances. At a reception hosted by the Austrian Ambassador to Kuwait, the esteemed guest, HE Ulrich Frank, Sheikh Mubarak lauded the visit – their first in over half a decade – as a golden opportunity to share knowledge and forge stronger relationships with specialized companies.
Austria's technological prowess in specific areas, like construction and renewable energy – sectors closely aligned with Kuwait's development plans – was commended by Sheikh Mubarak. He also acknowledged the presence of Kuwaiti investments in Austria, describing Vienna's market as secure, stable, and investor-friendly.
Ambassador Frank spoke of the "wonderful and ever-evolving" bilateral relationships spanning 60 years, expressing delight at his return to Kuwait as ambassador. He lauded Kuwait's hosting of the first political consultations round and looked forward to Vienna hosting the next. Furthermore, he encouraged Kuwaiti investors to delve into opportunities in tourism, technology, and education.
Dr. Werner Fasslabend, former Defense Minister of Austria and current President of the Austro-Arab Chamber of Commerce, underscored the visit's purpose of fostering trust and direct communication, progressing beyond formal agreements. The delegation consisted of 22 Austrian companies and influential figures such as the President of the Austrian Federation of Industries and representatives from firms like Rosenbauer and ANSERS.
Fasslabend celebrated Kuwait's strategic relevance, particularly under Vision 2035, which echoes Austria's expertise in technology and renewable energy. He also pointed to Austria's potential in healthcare and tourism, advocating for joint endeavors to transform shared visions into reality.
On a personal note, Fasslabend shared his professional history with Henkel Austria and his decade-long tenure as Defense Minister. Currently, he helms the Austro-Arab Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Fasslabend reminisced about nominating an Austrian general for a UN peacekeeping mission following Kuwait's liberation in the early '90s, marking the birth of a decades-long connection with Kuwait. "I closely monitor Kuwait's news," he said, "particularly its evolving relations with Iraq."
