Audi Welcomes New Block Train Service Reducing CO2 Emissions by Up to 11,500 Tons Annually

A new block train service between Regensburg and Lébény has begun operations, transporting up to 36 trailers at once. This innovative service, using the patented Helrom Trailer Wagon, significantly reduces CO2 emissions, with potential savings of up to 11,500 tons per year. Audi's supply chain head, Dieter Braun, has welcomed this development as a key step in the company's decarbonisation efforts.

The service, operated by 18 wagons, can carry the equivalent of 72 trucks' worth of cargo. This not only reduces emissions but also eases road congestion. The Helrom Trailer Wagon, patented by Helrom GmbH, enables barrier-free loading of various trailer types from road to rail and back, ensuring a seamless transition for cargo. Audi, a major player in the automotive industry, sees this as a crucial step towards consistent decarbonisation in its supply chain.

The new block train service, using the Helrom Trailer Wagon, offers a more sustainable and efficient way to transport cargo between Regensburg and Lébény. With potential CO2 emission savings of up to 11,500 tons per year, it aligns with Audi's commitment to reducing its environmental impact. This service sets a precedent for greener logistics in the industry.
