Arizona Underground Injection Control Primacy Program Hearing on Proposed Regulations

EPA (Environmental Protection Agency)

Event Type

Public hearing on Underground Injection Control (UIC) program primacy in Arizona

Description

EPA is holding a virtual public hearing to get input on their intent to approve Arizona's request for primary enforcement responsibility (primacy) for the UIC program under the Safe Drinking Water Act (SDWA) section 1422. This approval would enable Arizona's Department of Environmental Quality to authorize certain underground injection wells regulated under the SDWA and ensure compliance with UIC program requirements.

Each commenter will have three minutes to provide oral testimony. EPA may ask clarifying questions during the oral presentations, but they will not respond during the hearing. Both written statements submitted during the comment period and oral comments presented at the public hearing will be given equal weight.

If you require interpreter services or special accommodations such as audio description, please pre-register for the hearing by describing your needs by June 18, 2025. EPA may not be able to arrange accommodations without advance notice.
