In a significant development for the city of Dresden, key transportation projects have reached significant milestones. The Eastern Bypass, one of the region's most crucial traffic arteries, has seen the completion of several sections, with the latest being the bypass around Leppersdorf and the motorway connection.

The celebrations for the completion of the bypass around Leppersdorf were held at a citizen's festival attended by Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and Transport Minister Martin Dulig (SPD). The event, despite cool temperatures and rain, attracted several hundred people, including planners and companies involved in the project.

The Eastern Bypass, which spans approximately 33 kilometres between the A17 and the A4, has been under construction for some time. The bypass around Wünschendorf/Eschdorf and the relocation south of Großerkmannsdorf are significant segments of this project, but specific completion dates for these sections are yet to be confirmed. The approval procedure for the "relocation south of Großerkmannsdorf" is currently underway at the Saxon State Directorate.

Meanwhile, the A4 towards Görlitz interchange at Pulsnitz will open to traffic on Monday afternoon. Around 65 million euros have been invested in the new construction between Radeberg and the new interchange at Pulsnitz since 2017.

The Eastern Bypass is a vital artery, with daily usage ranging between 7,000 and 14,000 vehicles. By 2030, traffic is forecast to increase to up to 19,000 vehicles per working day. The connection from Leppersdorf to the new roundabout is also planned, forming part of the ongoing efforts to improve the city's transportation infrastructure.

For precise completion dates regarding the bypass around Wünschendorf/Eschdorf and the Großerkmannsdorf relocation, it would be necessary to consult local transport authorities in Dresden or Saxony, or official project updates from the responsible agencies (e.g., Saxony's state transport ministry or the local municipality).

The citizen's festival, in addition to celebrating the completion of the bypass around Leppersdorf, also offered free beer and pancakes to attendees, reflecting the community spirit that underpins such infrastructure projects. The festival served as a reminder of the progress being made in Dresden's transportation infrastructure, with more milestones expected in the coming months.

The Eastern Bypass project, a significant transportation initiative in Dresden, is also linked to the finance industry, given the substantial investment of around 65 million euros in new construction between Radeberg and the new interchange at Pulsnitz since 2017. Moreover, the success of such projects in the region's infrastructure, like the completion of the bypass around Leppersdorf, attracts attention from key figures in the industry and politics, such as Minister President Michael Kretschmer (CDU) and Transport Minister Martin Dulig (SPD).
