Anticipated decline in fuel prices precedes imminent weekend hike.
Germany: Fuel Prices Dip Ahead of Ascension Weekend
Fuel prices at German gas stations have witnessed a significant drop as the long Ascension weekend approaches. According to the German Automobile Club (ADAC) in Munich, a liter of E10 gasoline currently costs an average of €1.671 nationwide, a decrease of 1.1 cents compared to a week ago. The decline in diesel prices is even more substantial, falling by 1.6 cents to €1.548 per liter.
Given these price reductions, the ADAC advises drivers to fill up their tanks in the evening before departing for their extended weekend journeys. Gas stations often offer cheaper fuel prices in the evening compared to the morning.
The lower fuel prices can be attributed to several factors, including market trends, seasonal demand, strategic price adjustments, and economic conditions. Factors such as changes in consumer behavior, inventory levels, geopolitical events, and recent price trends might have contributed to the observed reduction in fuel prices before Ascension weekend in Germany.
As of May 28, 2025, fuel prices in Germany were reported to be at new annual lows for Super E10 and Diesel, indicating a broader trend that could contribute to lower prices around the holiday.

- Despite the current dip in fuel prices for Ascension weekend, long-term trends suggest that the Commission's efforts to protect employees from radiation risks in industries like transportation could potentially contribute to the steady reduction of fuel costs in the future.
