BBC PNP Nominations in 2024: A Breakdown

In 2024, the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued 8,000 nominations for permanent residence. The nominations were distributed across six streams: Skilled Worker, Health Authority, Entry-Level and Semi-Skilled (ELSS), International Graduate, and International Post Graduate.

The Skilled Worker stream received the largest share of nominations, accounting for 35% of the total. The Health Authority stream followed closely, with 23%, while ELSS received 3%, International Graduate received 20%, and International Post Graduate received 19%.

The natural and applied sciences was the second-largest group for nominations, with a share of 16.3% in the Skilled Worker stream. The largest share of Skilled Worker nominees was in the education, law, and social/community/government services category, accounting for 23.5% of the total.

The occupational category with the smallest share of Skilled Worker nominees was manufacturing and utilities, with just 0.3%. The occupational category of nominees with no listed occupation (IPG stream nominees) had a share of 18.7%, while the occupational category of nominees in sales and services had a share of 12%.

In addition to the Skilled Worker stream, the BC PNP also issued nominations for the Entrepreneur Immigration stream. A total of 28 nominations were issued in this stream.

BC PNP prioritized early childhood educators in 2024, and attempted to distribute the benefits of immigration across the province. As a result, 42% of all nominees were based outside of Metro Vancouver.

The occupational category with the largest share of nominees in the health category was 12.1%, while the occupational category of nominees in arts, culture, recreation and sport had a share of 1.2%. The occupational category of nominees in trades, transport and equipment operators and related had a share of 7.4%, and the occupational category of nominees in business, finance and administration had a share of 8%.

Notably, the BC PNP's new student streams (Bachelor's, Master's, and Doctorate) were intended to replace the International Graduate and International Post-Graduate streams, but their opening was halted due to reduced allocation in 2025. The BC PNP Entrepreneur Immigration Regional Stream was launched in May 2024, making it a permanent stream. The BC PNP's regional entrepreneurship pilot also became a permanent stream in 2024.

The median salary for Skilled Worker nominees in 2024 was $72,800, while the median salary for International Graduate nominees was $51,501. The median salary for Health Authority nominees was $56,992, and the median salary for Entry Level and Semi-Skilled nominees was $39,520.

The top five source countries for the Skills Immigration (SI) streams in 2024 were India, China, Philippines, Iran, and Nigeria.
