Yakutians Received Double Electricity Bills in May

Yakutia Residents Face Double-Bill Issue After Electricity Supplier Change

Residents of Yakutia have experienced unexpected charges on their electricity bills following payments made for the previous month. A recent shift in electricity suppliers has led to this confusion, with consumers being billed twice for the same month.

A correspondent from Yakutia 24 reached out to PАО "DTEK," the new guaranteed electricity supplier in the republic since April, for clarification. DTEK explained the issue, stating that it occurred among residents who had paid their bills in advance through online accounts. Funds paid earlier during the transition from 'Yakutskenergo' to DTEK ended up in 'Yakutskenergo' accounts, leading to additional charges from DTEK in the subsequent month's bill.

Since April 1, DTEK has taken over as the guaranteed electricity supplier, serving 323,257 individual clients and 15,379 legal entities. Yakutians are now required to pay their electricity bills to DTEK, whereas payment for hot water and heating remains with 'Yakutskenergo'. The personal accounts and personal cabinets of residents will remain the same.

For those who had an overpayment or debt with 'Yakutskenergo' at the time of the supplier change, DTEK has provided options for managing these funds. Clients have been informed about the availability of the overpayment and options to manage it via email. Consumers can return the overpayment to their bank account, transfer it as an advance for electricity payment with DTEK, or transfer it to 'Yakutskenergo' to cover heating bill and debt repayment. They will need to fill out an application and submit it to DTEK to facilitate the process.

In the event that funds are credited to DTEK's account, they will be used to cover electricity expenses for April. There is no need to pay the additional charges again. If the bills were paid twice, the additional funds can be used to pay for May services, which will be indicated in the June bills.

Applications for refund or transfer of funds can be filled out at any DTEK client office or downloaded from the website in the "virtual reception" section under "RS (Y)". They can be submitted remotely via the website's virtual reception or the DTEK personal cabinet. The required documents include bank details, EGRN, and passport copies for refund, and EGRN and passport copies for transfer.

According to DTEK, the billing system is connected to personal cabinets, reflecting amounts that can change with time and meter readings. Consumers are advised to pay for communal services after receiving the bills for the period to ensure accurate billing. The bills contain individual QR codes for each consumer, with one code leading to the "Payment Page" service and automatically distributing funds between 'Yakutskenergo' and DTEK services, while others can be used to pay for DTEK or 'Yakutskenergo' services separately.

Residents in Yakutia, who paid their electricity bills in advance through online accounts during the transition from 'Yakutskenergo' to DTEK, inadvertently faced double charges due to funds ending up in 'Yakutskenergo' accounts. DTEK, now the guaranteed electricity supplier, explained this issue and offered solutions for managing overpayments or debts from the previous supplier.
