Washington sees Puyallup Tribe distributing over half a million dollars ($530K) to 42 charities and non-profit organizations

In a recent announcement in the Puyallup Tribal Community Newsletter, the Puyallup Tribe has distributed funds to more than 40 nonprofits in Washington. The donations, totalling $534,250, were made during the tribe's fiscal third quarter, which ended on June 30.

The funds, derived from the revenue of the Emerald Queen Casino, have been part of the Puyallup Tribe's ongoing charitable efforts since 2020. Over the last four quarters, the tribe has donated a total of $9 million to hundreds of local organizations through its Charity Trust Board.

This is not the first time the Puyallup Tribe has shown its commitment to giving back to the community. The tribal council has also donated millions more from its own budget to organizations that do not qualify for Charity Trust Board funding.

The purpose of these donations varies, with funds being used for a range of initiatives including smoking cessation programs, problem-gambling programs, and impact costs paid to local governments for services such as fire and police.

The donations are made in the form of quarterly contributions, with the specific amount given to each nonprofit not disclosed. It's worth noting that the donations are not limited to nonprofits, but also extend to organizations that do not qualify for Charity Trust Board funding.

This latest round of donations is part of an agreement with the state that includes additional contributions for smoking cessation and problem-gambling programs, and for impact costs paid to local governments.

The Puyallup Tribe has been a significant contributor to the Washington community, having donated a total of $9 million since 2020. This news was originally reported by South Sound Mag.
