'Venom: The Final Performance' Becomes Available on Digital Streaming Services This Week
The Tom Hardy-led Marvel film titled Venom: The Final Act is set to launch on digital streaming platforms this week.
Overseen by director Kelly Marcel and co-written by herself and Hardy, this film was initially showcased in cinemas on October 25. Filling the shoes of the symbiote antihero for the third time, Hardy starred in Venom: The Final Act following his appearances in Venom in 2018 and Venom: Let There Be Carnage in 2021.
The film's synopsis reveals, "Fugitives on the run, Eddie and Venom are pursued by both their worlds. Enclosed by a tightening noose, the duo is compelled to make a disastrous choice that may seal Venom and Eddie's final performance."
Joining Hardy in the cast are Juno Temple, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Rhys Ifans, and Stephen Graham.
According to the streaming tracker When to Stream, Venom: The Final Act is speculated to appear on digital streaming services such as Prime Video, AppleTV, and VUDU on Tuesday, December 10.
Although When to Stream boasts an impressive track record for predicting PVOD releases, Disney (which owns Sony Pictures) has not yet confirmed the film's digital release date, leaving room for potential alterations.
Upon its digital debut, Venom: The Final Act will be available for purchase at $24.99 on platforms including Prime Video, AppleTV, and VUDU, and for a 48-hour rental period at $19.99.
Grossing $139.1 million domestically and $333.7 million internationally for a grand total of $472.8 million, Venom: The Final Act surpassed its production budget of $110 million before printing and advertising costs.
Venom: The Final Act Marks Kelly Marcel's Directorial Debut
Much to the delight of fans, the pairing of Tom Hardy and Kelly Marcel brings us yet another collaboration with their shared history in film stretching back over 20 years. Aside from working alongside Hardy in all three Venom films, this project marks Marcel's directorial debut.
In an October interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Marcel discussed her creative partnership with Hardy and spoke about what fuels him.
"He's remarkably daring when it comes to his characters and is willing to push boundaries as long as he feels secure and supported," Marcel said of Hardy. "As a director, our job is to challenge him and bring out the brilliant performance that lies within. But ultimately, it's all Tom; he brings his characters fully formed to the table."
On the topic of Venom's creative interpretation, Marcel credits Hardy with shaping its characterization.
"He is incredibly responsible for the creation of Venom and the voice of Eddie Brock," Marcel explained. "My role was to give the characters words and find entertaining situations for him to delve into."
The highly-rated Venom: The Final Act will be made available on PVOD on Tuesday, subject to any potential changes from the film's studio, Disney. Rated PG-13.
