US Boosts Estonia's Defense with $4B Arms Deal, Australia Next
The US has announced a significant arms deal with Estonia, worth over $4 billion. This includes six more Himars launchers and a substantial number of missiles, including ATACMS. This comes after Estonia's recent purchase of twelve Himars launchers and 200 ATACMS missiles for $4.73 billion, doubling its previous order. Meanwhile, Australia has been authorized to buy 48 Himars systems for $705 million to enhance interoperability with US forces.
The new contract with Estonia will provide a total of 856 GMLRS packages and 182 ATACMS missiles. This deal is a substantial boost to Estonia's defence capabilities, following its earlier purchase of similar equipment. The US has also approved the sale of 48 Himars launchers to Australia, worth $705 million. This sale aims to strengthen Australia's maritime strike capability and improve interoperability with US forces.
