In the latest report from the National Statistical Committee of Belarus, changes in producer prices for July 2024 have been revealed, offering insights into the country's key sectors: industry, agriculture, and construction.

The industrial sector saw a slight increase in the producer price index, rising by 0.1% compared to the previous month, but registering a substantial growth of 6.3% compared to December 2024. This increase was due in part to a decline in manufacturing (-0.5%) but was offset by growth in mining (+2.8%).

In the agricultural sector, crop production saw an increase in the producer price index by 2.5% and 1.5% respectively compared to the previous month and December 2024. Meanwhile, livestock production also experienced a rise, with the producer price index increasing by 0.4% and 2.5% respectively.

The construction sector, on the other hand, showed more significant growth. The producer price index increased by 0.9% compared to June and a robust 5.1% compared to December 2024. This growth was evident across various sub-sectors, with construction and installation works seeing an increase of 1.9% and 11.1% respectively. Additionally, the index for other works and expenses in construction rose by 2.5% and 9% respectively.

Interestingly, the index for freight transportation by all types of transport decreased by 0.3% compared to June but increased by 5% compared to December 2024. The index for machinery and equipment in construction saw a decrease of 0.6% and 3.3% respectively, while the index for investment goods rose by 0.2% and 2.4% respectively.

Consumer goods, however, saw an increase in the producer price index by 0.4% and 5.6% respectively, and the index for communication services for legal entities and individual entrepreneurs increased by 1.6% compared to the previous month and by 5.5% compared to December 2024.

These changes in producer prices provide a snapshot of the economic health of Belarus' key sectors and could have implications for inflation and wage growth in the coming months. However, for a comprehensive understanding of the producer price changes in these sectors for July 2024, direct reports or releases specifically addressing producer price indices would need to be consulted.
