U.S. Coast Guard Closes Ohio River Segments for America's River Roots Festival
The U.S. Coast Guard has announced temporary waterway restrictions on the Ohio River near Covington and Cincinnati. The closures are part of the 'U.S. Coast Guard Safety Zone Enforcement' event, known as the America's River Roots Festival, taking place from Wednesday to Sunday.
During the festival, the Ohio River will be closed in segments between mile marker 466.5 and mile marker 474.0, and the mouth of the Licking River will be closed from mile marker 0.0 to mile marker 0.3 during specific hours each day. Law enforcement agencies will patrol the waterways to enforce restrictions and federal, state, and local laws.
To ensure safe navigation, additional red navigational aids will be placed on the Ohio River from mile marker 469.5 to mile marker 471.0, assisting small watercraft and recreational vessels. Large passenger vessels will be moored at and operating from Cincinnati Public Landing and Serpentine Wall throughout the event.
The U.S. Coast Guard advises boaters to be aware of these temporary restrictions and plan their trips accordingly. The closures aim to maintain safety during the America's River Roots Festival. For further information, boaters can contact local Coast Guard stations.
