The Eagles Score a Victory on the Billboard Chart by Placing Two Favorited Albums

The Eagles' iconic album, Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975, continues to reign as the best-selling album in U.S. history, with the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) certifying it 38 times platinum for shifting 38 million equivalent units, most of which are actual sales.

Although Their Greatest Hits might hog the limelight when it comes to the Eagles' discography, it's not the only successful offering from the band. This week, the band claims dual spots on a Billboard chart, as Their Greatest Hits resurfaces, accompanied by another fan favorite.

Their Greatest Hits finds its way back onto the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart this week, reemerging at position 47 on the 50-slot tally that ranks the most consumed full-lengths and EPs classified as any form of rock or alternative music by Billboard. This isn't the album's first time on the list, and it's not alone.

The Eagles' Greatest Hits Volume 2 also features on the same ranking. As Their Greatest Hits reappears, The Eagles' Greatest Hits Volume 2 moves up from position 49, just shy of the bottom spot, to position 43.

The upward momentum seems to be driven primarily by a single track in this compilation. The Eagles' Greatest Hits Volume 2 includes the track "Please Come Home For Christmas", which has become the band's most popular holiday song. This track has seen a resurgence in popularity around December for years, and the increased streaming and sales could be a factor in the album's ascent.

Their Greatest Hits, however, doesn't benefit from the inclusion of "Please Come Home For Christmas". Holiday sales, along with the enduring appeal of the band, are likely sufficient to keep it on the charts or bring it back occasionally.

The Eagles recently wrapped up a string of shows in Las Vegas, as part of their ongoing Eagles: Live in Concert at Sphere residency. The residency is set to resume in January, and if current ticket sales trends continue, it's set to wrap up in April 2025, with the band adding more dates to their itinerary.

"Please Come Home For Christmas" is once again a hit across various Billboard charts, although it's likely to fade away like many other seasonal tracks soon. This week, the song reenters the Hot 100, landing at position 49. It's also gaining traction on several other charts, such as Streaming Songs and Rock Streaming Songs, as well as the Billboard Global 200.

The Eagles' album, 'The Very Best of the Eagles', also boasts impressive sales figures, earning platinum certification multiple times.

The Eagles' album, 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975', made history on the Billboard rock chart, securing a spot alongside 'Their Greatest Hits' in the Top Rock & Alternative Albums.

As forbes.com listed the highest-grossing bands of all time in 2019, the Eagles ranked second, with sales exceeding $500 million.

In addition to 'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975', 'The Very Best of the Eagles' also graced the Billboard charts, reaching the number 8 position on the Top 200 Albums chart in 2012.

'Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975' by the Eagles, not only topped the Billboard charts but also dominated the Billboard's year-end charts multiple times, including in 1976, 1977, 1978, and 1982.
