Tesla resurrects transferred Full Self-Driving feature amid other promotional offers
Tesla Announces Full Self-Driving Transfer Promotion
Tesla has recently announced a new promotion that allows customers to transfer their Full Self-Driving (FSD) capabilities from their old Tesla vehicles to a new one. This promotion is currently available in North America and has been expanded to include Europe and the Middle East.
The FSD transfer process is straightforward. To qualify, you must be the legal and registered owner of a Tesla with FSD and purchase the new vehicle on the same Tesla account. When ordering the new Tesla, do not add FSD; instead, notify a Tesla advisor that you want to transfer your existing FSD license. On delivery day, FSD will be deactivated on your old vehicle and activated on your new one. You do not need to trade in or sell your old vehicle—only the software license moves, and the old car reverts to Basic Autopilot or no FSD.
Eligible vehicles for this promotion include the new Model 3, Model Y, Model X, Model S, and the Cybertruck (excluding Foundation-Series and Launch-Series models). It's important to note that FSD cannot be transferred from Foundation Series vehicles, and used vehicle, business, or commercial orders are typically not eligible for the transfer program.
In addition to the FSD transfer promotion, Tesla is also offering other incentives to stimulate sales. In the United States, early Model Y owners can enjoy a $2,000 discount when they upgrade to the latest version. Furthermore, Tesla is offering zero percent financing on new Model 3 sales. These promotions may vary by region, and customers are encouraged to check Tesla’s latest official guidelines and active promotions before ordering.
Tesla may extend these promotional periods depending on regulatory approvals and market conditions. The current promotional period for the FSD transfer program runs at least through September 30, 2025.
Customers can take advantage of this promotion by contacting their delivery representative through the smartphone app. For more information, visit Tesla's official website.
