Tata Passenger Vehicles Surges in Q2 FY26, EV Sales Soar 59%

Tata Passenger Vehicles has reported a significant increase in domestic wholesales for the second quarter of fiscal year 2026. The company sold 140,189 units, marking an 8% rise from the same period last year. Notably, electric vehicle sales surged by 59% year-on-year to 24,855 units, contributing 17% of total volumes.

In September 2025, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles achieved a record-breaking month with 59,667 domestic wholesales. This represents a 45% increase from September 2024. The company's strong performance has propelled it to the second position in the passenger vehicle market, surpassing Mahindra & Mahindra and Hyundai Motor India. Maruti Suzuki retained its market-leading position, significantly ahead of Tata. Hyundai Motor India wholesaled 51,547 domestic PVs in the same month, up 1% year-on-year. Meanwhile, Mahindra & Mahindra recorded 56,233 UV dispatches, a 10% increase from the previous year. Toyota came in 5th place with sales of 31,091 units.

Tata Motors' impressive sales performance in Q2 FY26 and September 2025 has solidified its position as a major player in the Indian passenger vehicle market. The company's electric vehicle sales have also shown significant growth, contributing a substantial portion of its total volumes. As of 2023, Tata Motors was one of the leading manufacturers of passenger vehicles in India, and its recent sales figures indicate a continued upward trajectory.
