In the world of finance and politics, a series of significant events have unfolded. Let's delve into the latest developments.

US President Donald Trump is actively pursuing a swift resolution to the Ukraine conflict, with diplomatic efforts between Trump, Putin, and Zelensky taking centre stage. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz has expressed optimism about the negotiations.

The stock market saw a mixed performance on Monday. The Nasdaq managed a minimal gain of 0.01% to close at 23,713 points, while the S&P 500 closed virtually unchanged at 6,449 points. The Dow Jones, however, dipped slightly, ending the day at 44,911 points.

In the tech sector, Meta's shares fell 2.3% after hitting a new record high. Meanwhile, the solar industry saw a surge in stocks. Enphase Energy rose 2.7%, First Solar (WKN: A0LEKM) surged 9.7%, and Sunrun gained 11.4%, receiving a boost from an RBC upgrade. Notably, Intel (WKN: 855681) dropped 3.7% and became the worst performer in the Nasdaq 100 due to potential US government stake reports.

Boeing's shares fell by 1.2% due to an emergency landing incident of a 757 aircraft. The CEO of UnitedHealth, the best-performing Dow Jones stock after the week, is Stephen Hemsley, who resumed the role in May 2025 after the previous CEO Andrew Witt resigned. UnitedHealth (WKN: 869561) gained another 1.5% on the Dow Jones.

Looking ahead, investors are adopting a wait-and-see approach on Wall Street, with the upcoming central bank symposium in Jackson Hole and Fed Chair Jerome Powell's speech at the event being a focus for market participants. Trump has hinted that the next one to two weeks will decide the success of the negotiations, adding another layer of intrigue to the global political landscape.
